The Legendary George

George is a thief, a liar and a coward, with little time for anyone but himself. He dreams of adventures, of travelling the world, but he lives in an insignificant village in Britannia, at the far north of the Roman Empire, where most live and die within ten miles of their homes, and where nothing remotely exciting ever happens... until now. When George discovers the grisly remains of the village druid, less than a mile from his home, he sets out to make a name for himself by slaying the beast responsible. But his foolish plan backfires, and he loses, in one night, everything he has ever held dear. Alone and friendless, fleeing from imprisonment and death, George cries out to a God he does not know, and so begins a journey of discovery, a voyage that will take him both to the other end of the ancient world, and to the darkest corners of his soul. As he travels to mysterious faraway lands, George experiences adventures beyond his wildest imaginings, encountering thieves, giants, monsters, pirates, treachery, danger and death. At the same time, he must deal with the forces raging within - jealousy, pride, selfishness, greed and fear - which threaten to drag him back to his former miserable guilty state. Only with God's help, and the loyalty of his newfound friends, will George be able to stay on the path that leads to true peace and happiness, and ultimately fulfil his destiny, the deed that will still be celebrated in legend over 1700 years later!
